SAN FRANCISCO'S ANNUAL HALLOWEEN PARADE

In a city well-known for its street festivals and parades, Halloween in the Castro has become one of the biggest and most important events in the San Francisco’s civic calendar.

People come from all over the Bay Area, the country, and the world to participate in and experience the party (there have been as many as 300,000 attendees in recent years), but Halloween in the Castro is, at its heart, a San Franciscan festivity.

The March of Light hopes to continue to inspire our sense of fun, spectacle, and community, through encouraging participation and artistic expression. Anyone in costume is welcome to march with us, regardless of race, age, sexual orientation or ethnic background. Come help us celebrate the diversity and creativity of the citizens of the city we love best!
Created to “Celebrate Life and the Day of the Dead,” the March of Light continues to grow in scope to include members of numerous communities drawn together for a common celebration of Halloween creativity and human spirit. For the first time this year’s Parade will be organized into four movements, each representing a unique aspect of the cycle of life: Fire, Death, Light and Celebration.

The 6th annual March of Light Halloween parade will be held in the Castro and Mission Districts start at 6:30 pm on the evening of Saturday, October 27th. Please explore the menu to the left for more information.

Thanks to everyone who made the March of Light Halloween Parade 2006 such a success. We’re hard at work putting together our parade for 2007, and we hope to see you all again this year!
